When booking your session, you want to look + feel your best. That means feeling confident, comfortable, and beautiful. This guide will give you example of the colors and clothing materials that will look best with my editing style, along with some tips to choose the best outfits.
Your photographer's editing style is bold, moody, warm, and with added contrast. Bright blues and greens are often more muted, while oranges, yellows, and reds are more vibrant and will stand out more in your photographs. Please by cognizant of this when selecting your outfits.
Colors that I recommend wearing are tan, brown, white, cream, ivory, mustard yellow, burnt orange, and maroon. Depending on the season, you may want to switch up the colors you wear. For example, for holiday photos, you may want to stylize your family in maroon and ivory dresses and/or button down shirt, along with khaki pants or skirts. It's also important to note that you should not all wear the same exact color on top and/or bottom, as you'll all blend in together in your photographs.
If you've booked a fall session, stylizing your family in burnt oranges, mustard yellow, and cream colors will look amazing!
One instance that I'll recommend two people wear the same outfit, is if you have twins coming to the session. Wearing the same outfit for your cute littles will look ADORABLE, and will be perfectly fine!
Some fabrics and materials that I recommend are satin, lace and cotton for adult ladies, and tulle, cotton and chiffon for younger ladies. Fedora hats look so cute in photos, but if you won't be wearing your hat for the entire gallery, I recommend bringing it along instead of wearing it right away so your hair doesn't get ruined or get flat. This goes for gentlemen, as well.
In addition, I love to create movement in your photos. This can be done by wearing longer, flowy dresses so I can give you prompts to spin, etc.
Younger men always look adorable in slacks and suspenders, but while that may be uncomfortable, khaki pants or dress pants look great, as well. Adult men look great in button down long sleeve shirts and jeans or khakis.
Please do not wear graphic tees unless you're promoting your business for a branding session or you have newborn clothing that has a purpose for graphics, logos, or lettering.
You may wear any type of jewelry to your session to express yourself!
If you're a wedge and heel wearer like me, please bring a change of shoes in case you have trouble walking longer distances, your feet become uncomfortable, or we decide to be adventurous and climb hills.
Most of all, you should be comfortable and confident in yourself for your session! Please wear outfits that you can breathe in, and don't feel like you have to constantly pull your clothing up or down to stay comfortable. Also be aware of bra straps.
If you're still having trouble deciding on outfits, you can always email me, or you can look up "color pallets for family photos." There are plenty of examples online that will guide you in the right direction! In addition, you may look through my past client galleries to get an idea of what others are wearing.
